SACHIN IS OBSERVER-MOBITEL MOST POPULAR CRICKETER

St. Peter’s College cricketer Sachin Silva is the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year by way of the vote count which ended on Friday June 22. Sachin had a vote count of 38,655 and will receive his prize at a glittering awards ceremony to be held on July 3 at the Hilton Hotel in Colombo along with with other award winners including the coveted Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year award. The rest of the contestants in the fray could not catch up with Sachin with the second placed winner Shehan Fernando collecting 5387 votes. Isura Tharaka of Galahitiyawa Central College in Ganemulla takes the prize in the Division Three category with 2013 votes. He too will receive his prize on July 3.

SACHIN SILVA POISED TO TAKE IT ALL

With just one count more to go, St. Peter’s College player Sachin Silva looks set to wrap things up as he continues to lead in the votes at the Mobitel-Sunday Observer Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Contest. Isuru Tharaka leads the count in the Division Three segment. The final vote count will be taken at 12 noon on Friday June 22 and the result published in the Sunday Observer of June 24. Votes can be posted or hand delivered.

SACHIN SILVA LEADS, FINAL COUPON ON JUNE 17

Sachin Silva continues to lead in the vote count of the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest with voting scheduled to end in two weeks time. He has a vote count of 27,737 votes. Voting will end with the final coupon published on June 17 with entries to close at 12 noon on Friday June 22. Trailing Sachin Silva is Shehan Fernando with 8398 votes followed by Sanjula Abeywickrema with 4250 votes in the third slot.

Sachin Silva continues to lead in the vote count of the Sunday Observer Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year voting contest with 21,487 votes. He is streets ahead of his closest rival Shena Fernando who has collected 8321 votes.Apart from the two there is nothing substantial in the vote count for the week with Sanjula Abeywickrema and Dellon Peiris bagging 3821 and 1270 votes respectively as the contest nears to a close.

We wish to inform our readers that due to a revelation brought to our attention we have been compelled to declare the voting results of one of the schoolboy cricketers in the fray for the Mobitel-Sunday Observer Most Popular Cricketer of the Year contest null and void. Hence we regret to inform the reading public that the name of Gishan Edirisinghe has been taken out of the contest in keeping with the norms that employees of this newspaper group and their family members are considered ineligible to compete.

EDIRISINGHE MAINTAINS LEAD OVER SACHIN SILVA

Gishan Edirisinghe from Ananda College leads the count at this week’s Mobitel-Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year contest as far as the Voting Segment is concerned while Sachin Silva from St. Peter’s College is second. In third place is Shehan Fernando from St. Benedict’s College. Edirisinghe has 13506 votes while Silva has 10687. Benedictine Fernando has 4101 votes.Isipathana College’s Sanjula Abeywickrema has 1723 votes to his name while Dellon Peiris from S. Thomas’ College has 1006 votes to his credit.
