New format for OBSERVER – MOBITEL Schoolboy Cricketer Contest 2013

School Cricket Divisions I, II & III approved by the Ministry of Education for Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association is renamed PLATINUM for Division I, GOLD for Division II and SILVER for Division III. All schools falling under the respective divisions are informed to take note of this renaming.
The top three Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketers were found after the final weeks voting as Royal College, Colombo’s wicket-keeper batsman Milan Abeysekera (Platinum), St. John’s College, Nugegoda’s Yamal Siriwardena ( Gold) and Sri Rahula College Katugastota’s Ishara Rangana Hewage (Silver) being voted as the reader’s favourites at the 2013 Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of The Year Contest.
The fight for the top spot between Royalist Milan Abeysekera (85,711) and Thurstanite Minhaj Jaleel (83,986) continued in the ‘Platinum’ contest for the schools taking part in the SLSCA Division I cricket tournament at the end of the 23rd week count of the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 contest which will come to an end on July 3.
Royal College, Colombo’s wicket-keeper/batsman Milan Abeysekera polled 79,304 votes to take the top position while Minhaj Jaleel of Thurstan College, Colombo who occupied the first place last week, dropped to the number two slot polling 78,967 conceding a 337 vote lead in the ‘Platinum’ segment for schools taking part in the SLSCA Division I tournament at the end of the 22nd week and the penultimate count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year Contest 2013.
Thurstan's Minhaj Jaleel (75,003) sprang into the lead once again with a 124 votes lead pushing last week's winner Royal's Milan Abeysekera (74,879) to the second place in the 'Platinum' competition for schools playing in Division I in the SLSCA tournament in the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 contest.
Milan Abeysekera (70,103) of Royal College took over the lead from last week’s leader Thurstan’s Minhaj Jaleel (69,379) with a majority of 724 votes in the Platinum Contest for schools taking part in the SLSCA Division 1 tournament at the end of the 20th week’s count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year 2013 contest.
The competition for all three segments platinum , Gold and Silver for schools playing in the division one, two and three are bound to be intense ones as the deficit between the first two candidates in the Platinum Contest Royal’s Milan Abeysekera (64,987) who was placed first last week and Thurstan’s Minhaj Jaleel (65,002) who pushed Abeysekera into second place with the slimmest lead of just 15 votes.
The competition for the Platinum and Gold Segments for schools playing in Division I and two is bound to be an intense one as the deficit between the first two candidates in the Platinum Contest Royal's Milan Abeysekera (60,002) and Thurstan's Minhaj Jaleel (59,879) is just 123 votes.
Royal College deputy skipper and wicket keeper/batsman Milan Abeysekera (52,107) kept last week’s top position while Thurstan’s Minhaj Jaleel (51,877) also kept his second position in the Platinum segment of the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 Contest at the end of the 17th week count.
The intense struggle between the first two candidates, Royal’s Milan Abeysekera and Thurstan’s Milhaj Jaleel is building up as the gap between the two have narrowed down to 118 votes in the Platinum Segment for schools playing in the SLSCA Division one tournament in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of The Year 2013 Contest at the end of the 16th week count.
Thurstan’s Milhaj Jaleel (40,279) took over the lead from Royal’s Milan Abeysekera (39,898) with a majority of 381 votes at the end of the 15th week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 Platinum segment for schools taking part in the SLSCA Division I Cricket tournament.
The competition for the Platinum contest for schools playing in the Division I is bound to be a close one as the deficit between the first two candidates is just 108 votes. Last week’s leader was Sebastianite Anusha Perera (34,969), but Royal’s wicket-keeper batsman Milan Abeysekera has taken over the first place lead with 35,077 votes this week at the end of the 14th week’s count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 Contest.
Anusha Perera of St. Sebastian’s, Moratuwa and Sahan Dharmakeerthie of Ananda Sastralaya dropt into the lead in the Sunday Observer/Mobiel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricket of the Year 2013 after the vote count on Coupon Number 13 in the Platinum Division and Silver Division respectively.
Thurstan College’s Minhaj Jaleel kept up his lead in the Platinum Division of Schools in the Observer-Telecom Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 of the Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Competition. Earlier Jaleel had the lead with 24,201 votes and he increased the lead to 27,761 votes after last week’s count.
Minhaj Jaleel of Thurstan College took the lead once again polling 24,201 votes displacing Sebastianite Anusha Perera (23,519) into the third slot while Royal’s Milan Abeysekera who was placed second last week remains at number two with 23,876 votes at the end of the 11th week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year Contest 2013.
Anusha Perera of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa took over the lead from Minhaj Jaleel of Thurstan College, polling (20,129) votes while Royal’s Milan Abeysekera took the number two slot with (18,993) votes pushing Thursian Minhaj Jaleel who led last week into the third position (18,374) in the ‘Platinum Segment’ for schools playing in the SLSCA Division I tournament at the end of the 10h week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 competition.
Minhad Jaleel of Thurstan College maintained his top position polling (15,397) votes and Sebastianite Anusha Perera took the number two slot with (14,877) votes pushing Royal’s Milan Abeysekera into the third position (14,399) in the ‘Platinum Segment’ for schools playing in the SLSCA Division I Tournament at the end of the 9th week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year 2013 competition.
Thurstanite Minhad Jaleel (12,814) took the number one spot from Royal’s Milan Abeysekera (12,579) while Sebastianite Anusha Perera (11,997) dropped down one place and was third at the 8th week count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 Platinum Competition for schools playing in the SLSCA division one segment.

The tussle is on between the first three candidates as Benedictine Geethika Jayatileka took over the lead from Sebastianite Anusha Perera in the Platinum Contest for schools playing in the division one in the SLSCA tournament at the end of the 6th week counting in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest 2013.
Sebastianite Anusha Perera took the top berth from Benedictine Geethika Jayatileka polling 7002 votes in the platinum contest for schools playing division one in the SLSCA tournament.
Royal’s Milan Abeysekera who took top billing last week was ousted to the third place by Benedictine Geethika Jayatileka who polled in 5,698 votes at the end of the fourth week counting in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year ‘Platinum’ contest for the schools participating in the SLSCA Division Tournament.
There were many changes in the contest when Benedictine Geethika Jayatileka who led the Platinum segment for Division One schools last week was pushed down to second place by Royalist Milan Abeysekera who polled in 3,742 votes in the third week’s counting at the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most popular Schoolboy Cricketer competition.
Benedictine all-rounder Geethika Jayatilleka took the top spot with 2119 votes in the ‘platinum’ division for the schools taking part in the SLSCA Division I tournament at the end of last two weeks of voting at the 35th Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 Contest. Royalist Milan Abeysekera (2,101) and Peterite spinner Julien de Silva polled in (1982) to occupy the second and third places respectively.
